| [Fright caused by the explosion of a lump of quick lime. Quick lime is used in the construction of houses. Traditionally the Maya soak corn kernels overnight in a solution of quick lime and water before the corn is ground into tortillas. Quick lime explodes when water is added to it, which is what is happening in this painting. It has begun to rain during the return trip.] | ||
