Antonio Vasquez Yojcom studied painting for a short time with renowned Tz'utuhil artist Pedro Rafael Gonzalez Chavajay before setting out on his own. He soon married and children started arriving almost yearly. Faced with feeding his growing family, he needed to sell his paintings. He adjusted the quality of the paintings to fit his markets, so there is variation it their quality.
