I am always pleased when people leave comments on my guestbook.
However spamming (about 1000 spams per legitimate entry) has caused me
to close down the guestbook to automatic entries. If you want to have
a comment added, you can email me and I will post it as soon as I
check my email, usually within few days.
If you need an answer to any questions, please use the Feedback Form. If you would like to be on our mailing list, please sign up on our Mailing List page. If you are an artist having any connection to Maya, Guatemala, Native Americans, Latin America, or indigenous peoples, and have a website, I would be happy to provide a link to your website. I will also post a image, probably small, of one of the works selected from your website. Name: Renato Correa CommentsCongratulations! Your website is marvelous and the paintings touch deep inside my Latin soul. Here is a link to Beto Borges paintings, a very talented Brazilian modern painting artist. Of course I am suspect in talking about him since he is a good friend of mine. His work has nothing to do with Arte Maya but I just thought it could be interesting for you to see it. I hope you enjoy glancing thru his work: www.betoborges.net. [Editors note: The images are details of Beto's paintings. Click on them to see the full painting.] Name: Steve Dent CommentsHi, I greatly admire the work on your website and
I will put a link to it from my website. I am an artist
myself , I
paint Native North American scenes plus other subjects. I
also have a keen interest in the history and people of
Central & South America. Please take a look at my site Steve
Dent Gallery. If you like it, I would be honoured if you placed
a link to it. best wishes, Name: Jorg Max CommentsOnline Art Gallery of an emerging artist from north-central Guatemala (Coban, Alta Verapaz). Exhibits oil painting themes of indigenous people from this northern region. Themes are realistic, not primitivist, and of all formats. www.j-art.tk [Editor's note: Thank you for sharing your site with us. I support all artists, especially artists who are Maya, from Guatemala or Mexico, or latino. The web is an inexpensive place to have a gallery to get your work out there. I will be looking forward to you putting more paintings up on it. The pop-ups which completely block the screen every time you want to go to another page are very annoying. You should do whatever is necessary to eliminate them, even if it means changing your web host. I would like to engage in a discussion (discussion group) with you and others about the terms realistic versus primitivistic. One painting on your site (not this one) appears less realistic than what I believe you are calling the primitivist paintings.] Name: MAURICIO ORTIZ CommentsMUY BUENA PAGINA PARA DEMOSTRARLE AL MUNDO NUESTRAS RAICES,ES UN ORGULLO EL SER GUATEMALTECO Y DARSE CUENTA QUE NUESTRO PAIS BA SUPERANDO, LES SUGIERO INCLUIR UN MAPA DE GUATEMALA PUES AHI MUCHAS PERSONAS QUE NO SABEN NISIQUIERA DONDE SE ENCUENTRA GUATEMALA, FELICITACIONES POR SU PAGINA MUY BUENA, SOY DE SAN JUAN SACATEPEQUEZ VIVO EN EL SUR DE CALIFORNIA, PASARE LA DIRECCION DE SU PAGINA A TODA PERSONA QUE PUEDA PARA DAR A CONOCER PARTE DE NUESTRA CULTURA ATRAVEZ DE SU PAGINA DE NUEVO FELICITACIONES Y ADELANTE M.O. I think it shows art of the Mayan. Name: Natalie Commentsall this is good and well but where are all the pictures of Mayan Jade Jewellrey? [Ed. note: I did a Google search for Maya jewelry and it is indeed true that it is not easy to find photographs of jade on line. The National Geographic has a number of pages with interesting information and some photos on the ancient Maya, but perhaps your best bet to see photos of Maya jade are in books. You might also try your local library. They often purchase expensive art books.] Name: selma CommentsI love this site. I always come to this site to feel connected with my heritage. Name: Carlos Nava San Roman CommentsWell i paint art maya, and i want to published with you, i wanna known how can i get notice from you, or how can i send you some pictures. [Editor's note: Thanks for your interest Carlos. Because we are a very small organization in order have the resources to accomplish our goals, we have kept our focus narrow—contemporary Tz'utuhil Mayan painters from Guatemala. However if you wish to send me a photo, I would be willing to publish it next to this or a new entry in the guestbook. You could also leave a way interested parties can be in touch with you. Photos can always be emailed to me through the feedback form above, or they can be sent to: Arte Maya Tz'utuhil, P.O. Box 40391, San Francisco, CA 94110.] Name: Jose Sosa Name: sandra m. kellaher Commentseach year i enjoy your calendars and the paintings i have purchased prior in time. thank you for sharing these wonderful artists with us and allowing us to enjoy their works. Name: Susan CommentsI saw several Nan Cuz paintings in 1984 while on vacation in Guatemala. Her talent is magnificent. Every day I have regretted that I didn't bring one of her paintings back. I am overjoyed at finding her work on the internet. [Editor's note: Nan Cuz is an internationally famous Guatemalan artist and she has an interesting artist's house in Panajachel. My first knowledge of Nan Cuz came when we each bought a painting by Pedro Rafael Gonzalez Chavajay from an exhibition in a restaurant in Panajachel. She bought the most beautiful painting in the exhibition, a small painting of a Mayan fisherman in a cayuco with the volcano in lovely shades of violet, pink and blue in the background. I bought the painting with the most challenging theme—alcoholism. Two people have sent me photos of the Nan Cuz paintings they own. Unfortunately, I did not keep a good record of who they were, but I am putting the images up so that people can get an idea of what her style of painting is like. Her paintings are very thick; they have a texture similar to Southwest Indian sand paintings, although not so uniform.] Voy obtener el numero telefonico lunes] Name: gabriel CommentsHuehuetenango Name: Michael R. Name: Tlalok Red Eagle holder of Thunder Feather of lightning CommentsI think the I have the spirits of Maya and Azteks working thru me when i paint my art i find so much significance with my manifestations remember no hate or ignorance against different tribes nations north or south remember "WE ARE ALL RELATED from THE SPIRIT WITHIN" beyond religion and beliefs, culture, peace and love [Ed. note: If all the religions learned to get along and tolerate and respect each other the world would be a better place. Even now there are Guatemalan Christians who unfortunately do not want the Mayans to practice their ancient religious customs. The Bahai religion teaches that all men are brothers and all religions are one so that whatever church or religious ceremony one participates in, it is to the same God/spirit. We would do well to respect all religions however diverse and all life. Religions who teach hatred, killing and intolerance don't deserve to be called religions.] Name: Melissa Commentsit is a pretty good site. I like it.
