 This is the
seventh year that the calendar includes the Maya day and month glyphs for each day of the
year. The example pictured above are the glyphs for December 21, 2012. A
section at the beginning of the calendar (and here on the web) gives an overview of the
Maya
calendar and how it works. The glyphs for any day, for example
4 Ajpub' 3 Q'anqiij, will not repeat for fifty two years. Most of the artists
included in the calendar are Tz'utuhil, and so we have used the
Tz'utuhil Mayan language for the names of the glyphs rather than the
Yucateco Mayan language. |
